Loco has the honor of being the only White Grenache wine from central Spain.
After a long and arduous search, we finally found a few White Grenache vines—a variety that’s nearly extinct due to how complex it is to grow. It’s a highly sensitive variety, both to high temperatures and humidity, which is why work at the sorting table during difficult years is done grape by grape. But it’s well worth the effort. Loco is a white Méntrida DO wine made by Bodegas Canopy using 100% White Grenache head-trained vines.
It ferments for 6 months, half of which is in barrels with battonage and the other half in tanks on the fine lees. The result is a wine with an intense, clean, defined and complex nose. It’s broad, very well-balanced, with magnificent acidity and a long and persistent finish.

|Pre-fermentation cold maceration with the skins for 24 hours. Half of the must ferments in French oak barrels while the other half ferments in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 10 ºC.|
|8 months in 500 and 700-liter French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks, aged on the fine lees with weekly battonage.|
Straw yellow color, clear and bright.
Surprising, subtle and elegant notes of fresh grass, fennel and hay, along with hints of peach and white flowers (chamomile), which are complemented by smoky and spicy nuances from its barrel fermentation and aging. Mineral notes.
In the mouth, it’s fresh and silky, where the same aromatic notes as on the nose appear again, along with pleasant notes of breadstuffs that add complexity. Long, broad and persistent.
You’ll like it…because it has subtle floral aromas but is intense in the mouth with an unctuous and mineral texture.
Here’s something else…The creators of this wine were overwhelmed with joy when they found a White Grenache vineyard more than 65 years old—an unusual discovery on the lands of Toledo.
